ViBIM FAQ: Files, Turnaround and Pricing for Scan to BIM Projects
Short answers to the questions survey firms and BIM managers ask us before a first project.
What do you model?
We convert registered point clouds into Revit models across four disciplines: architecture, structure, MEP and topography. Most projects are existing buildings for renovation, retrofit or facility management. This is our core Scan to BIM Services work.
Which file formats do you accept and deliver?
- Input: RCP/RCS is preferred, E57 and zipped point cloud datasets are accepted. We suggest RCS files of 5 GB or less, or one zip per transfer.
- Output: Native Revit (.RVT), IFC (tell us the schema, IFC2x3 or IFC4) and DWG for 2D sheets.
- Transfer: FTP, Box, Google Drive, WeTransfer, Cintoo or Autodesk Construction Cloud.
Can you produce 2D drawings as well as the model?
Yes. Plans, sections and elevations are extracted from the Revit model to your title blocks, scales and annotation standards, and delivered as Revit sheets, DWG or PDF. See our As-Built Drawing Services.
Can you work inside our ACC project?

How long does a project take?
It depends on estimated modeling hours.

How do you price?
We work from an hourly rate and quote a lump sum per project. The price depends on scope, LOD and LOI, tolerance, scan quality, project size and coordination requirements. You receive the quote within 12 to 24 hours of sending your data.
Can I get a quote without a point cloud?
Yes, as an estimate. Send Leica TrueView files, Google Maps links or images, site photos, existing 2D drawings or a short project description.
Does scan quality affect the result?
Yes. We model what the data supports. Mobile scanners such as the BLK2GO produce lower density, which limits detail, for example to LOD 300 across the whole model. For high-detail work we recommend a terrestrial laser scan with a registered point cloud.
How do you protect our data?
Only project managers transfer files, using secure cloud platforms or FTP. USB drives and unapproved file sharing are not allowed, and the office network sits behind a firewall. We sign an NDA on request.
How do we pay?
By international wire transfer (SWIFT), Wise or corporate e-banking. ViBIM is a registered Vietnamese company and issues official invoices.
Do you offer a trial?
